Introduction

Hi, I am De’An Roper. I am a PhD student at Texas Woman’s University in the Health Studies program. With more than twenty years experience and an advanced clinical license, I have worked in many capacities as a psychotherapist. A few years ago I found myself suggesting to clients to set reminders for themselves by using their phones, or to log their mood on their phone with a memo app. Sometimes they were compliant and sometimes not. I wondered what was the problem that they couldn't use their phone to do these assignments, until I tried it myself. Not too long ago, I began trying to use the technology for myself in an effort to eat healthier and exercise. I can be compliant to a point, and then the habit falls off. It’s that point in time I am most curious about. Why do so many people download apps and not use them? Thus, my total “Alice in Wonderland” curiosity took off and I am still falling down the rabbit hole!
My research into the topic has uncovered some fascinating information about who uses technology, how we use it, and how it is used in health care. Ultimately that is where we will land in this blog at the intersection of health and technology.
 Come
                  along
                                  for
                                                the       fall!
